Buzzing in Neon
Let’s talk about summer brights. Neons. Candy paint, as I like to sing 🍭 Color has been everywhere this summer—less neutrals, more pop.
First, Yeezy was ALL about neutrals. Now, it’s all bright oranges, greens, blues, pinks—EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN (or should I say rainbow 🌈). I feel like we need to take notes. They predict a lot of the trends! They set the mood. Ok, not just the Kardashian’s, but fashion shows everywhere are feauturing more and more bright colors—both on the runway and in the audience.
Even neon nails are in! Highlighter yellow, hot pink, vivid purple.
For me, I tend to shy away from most color. I love white, beige, gray and black. Of course I switch it up from time to time, because I love to try out new trends, but neutrals are typically what I gravitate to. So for me to dabble with color, I like to stick to shades a little less out there! The toned down version of brights is perfect for me, because wearing full on neon (besides my nails) is just too big of a jump for me. Plus, I know it will be more in rotation in my closet if it’s a little more tame.
I had two recent outfits where I experimented with this trend. Both just so happened to be off the shoulder, another thing I'm obsessed with!!!
The first was this GORGEOUS vibrant orange bardot dress from Pretty Little Thing. I complemented the look with gold, layered jewelry. The photos don't do the color justice. It totally gave me '60's vibes with the matching belt, puffed sleeves and thick material. I could picture Jackie Kennedy wearing something like this, with a coordinating pillbox hat, LOL.
The second was a smocked striped top, with hints of coral, baby pink, electrifying green and cobalt blue. The clean white really makes the colors pop—that's why I paired it with white jeans and a pair of neutral wedges. This was just a super comfy look I wore to dinner with a friend.
