Denim on Denim
We all know how much of a comeback denim has made this season—one could argue it never left. So much so that there can almost never be too much denim in one look. I mean, how many Canadian tuxedo’s have you seen this past year? Denim shoes, oversized jackets, chokers and an array of jean styles are just a few staples that have been dominating both the runway and streets everywhere.
While it may be an intimidating trend to hop on board with, if done correctly, it is beyond fierce! Denim is one look that is easy to bring from a casual day look, to a vamped-up evening look. Below are a few style ideas to help you confidently rock the denim on denim trend. Scroll to see how I made double denim my own.
Tips and tricks:
Wear dark washed jeans for a more slimming effect.
Don’t color match your denim exactly—you can stick to lighter shades or darker shades, or use a little of both, but try not to precisely coordinate the shades.
Play with accessories!! I paired my day time look with a winter hat, and my evening look with a bright lip.
Pair with classic pieces—a white t-shirt, pointed pumps, etc.
Tie a button up around your waist.
Denim doesn't have to just be jeans or a jacket. Think outside of the box—skirts, vests, heels... I love it all!
I'm into denim looks that have appliquéd designs or embroidery.
